This lamp is exquisite. I chose it even though Amazon has a cheaper knock off for the following reasons: It will be placed on my large Italian nightstand. Amazon's less expensive version will be lost and diminished - it would be disproportionately small.The lamp I bought is heavier, weightier and taller. This is important to me because it will look much better than on the floor!! My nightstand is pretty crowded. I keep water bottles, soft drink bottles and sundry other things on it. Nothing would look good on the shade - I've never had an accidental spill end up looking good. The nightlight function is a plus for me. This lamp replaces one I had for many years and came with a night light feature as well. The ambience gave me such a nice soft, warm and welcoming glow that I simply became addicted to this feature. I intentionally shopped around looking for a new lamp that offered me this function. I'm satisfied with my new lamp... its look, features and functions. Personally I find the rectangular shade to be a pleasant and interesting change from the usual run of the mill round or roundish shape. It's a personal style choice and may not suit everyone but it suited me. The veining adds an extra dimension. Further it's bright enough at 150 watts to take care of business since I'm not looking for a spotlight but rather a simple light to avoid the dark. All and all I'd say money well spent and I'm happy with the lamp.
