I like the night light feature and it works well. The close feature does not last very long before the fitting in the lid is deformed and does not slow close.I was hesitant to purchase this product when I read some of the reviews. I love this idea of the nightlight and I bought one to try and test before doing the rest of my toilets.I decided to install one in my sons bathroom first knowing he is very young and has a tendency to miss in the middle of the night. Sure enough, in exactly 3 months the light did not come back on as others had reported in reviews here.I removed the toilet seat and the major defect with the current design is there is no way to keep water from entering the battery compartment on the back of the seat (where accidents are bound to happen). Also when cleaning you have to be extremely careful. The circuit board that houses the LEDs is inside with the batteries with no barrier to stop moisture intruding. This is an absolute bone head design flaw and the engineers and executives at Kohler should be fixing this immediately! When I called Kohler they offered to replace the LED battery compartment but with the same exact part and warned me that the toilet seat is not waterproof and not to spray any cleaners directly on the seat being careful not to get water or cleaners on it again. They have had numbers us complaints from other customers about the same thing. What???CRAZY!!!! Why would anyone make a toilet seat that can't get wet?????For less than 5 cents a seat they could easily make a rubber gasket that goes around the crack of the battery compartment to prevent this from happening. Kohler should stop production on this until they can send a gasket to all existing customers if they care. Until I see the executives take action I'm giving this one star and save your money until Kohler can design an LED that lives up to their name. This is absolute garbage.I have attached photos so you can see the oxidization damage that occurred in just 3 months!Kohler - I hope you see this and do the right thing! I feel like I flushed $75 down the toilet....literally.I would not buy a toilet seat without the soft close functionality, which works great, and I love the night light in this one. It's a welcome enhancement that avoids the need to shock your eyes with typical bathroom lights. The destination is clearly illuminated in a soft blue light, assuming adequate darkness. I like it better than the ordinary nightlight that I would otherwise plug in at the closest electrical outlet... which outlet may or may be in the actual toilet space. This seat is battery operated and runs a fairly long time between battery changes. My only complaint is that the plastic is too thin. It scratches easily (no tools there please!) and you definitely cannot stand on it. Maybe that is intentional, I don't know. It's just annoying to me because everything in the world can end up on the lid. But that would not change my decision to buy it. It's a great product at a reasonable price. It is upsetting, a month waiting for the toilet seat that cost me $111 and I received the incorrect color.I bought this seat as a replacement for one that had become stained and so never looked clean. It is narrower than the bowl is wide (I didn’t measure this as recommended) but that turns out to be a slight aesthetic compromise. Male spouse had been “missing the bowl”, and I’d been told a lighted bowl and a non-white colour would help. It does truly help (after the first miss). Glad I bought it.The seat came off due to the screws used to install it slipping and the light no longer works Bc it cracked. I'm very disappointed in Kohler. This seat renders the user lower to the ground. If you are ageing, get another seat.Didn't realize the light was on a timer-- I thought it would have a sensor or something to know when to go on. Seems a little bit on the expensive side for what it is, and thus falls squarely under the category of "nice, but in no way worth spending the money on if finances are of concern in any way." Purely a luxury.
